Our Goals and Investment Philosophy
FRANCE VALLEY is guided by a long-term investment philosophy that places equal weight on financial performance, environmental responsibility and the quality of the investor relationship. We set clear goals for each fund and for the firm as a whole, and we report honestly against them — including when results fall short of targets. Our ambition is to be recognised by investors, regulators and land management professionals as the most rigorous and transparent natural asset manager operating in France and Europe. We pursue this ambition by continually deepening our technical expertise, widening our geographic reach and strengthening the analytical tools we use to evaluate and monitor assets.
Our primary financial goal is to deliver risk-adjusted returns that are meaningfully decorrelated from equity and bond market volatility, providing investors with genuine portfolio diversification. We target return profiles appropriate to each asset class, communicated clearly in fund documentation before any subscription.
We regard the preservation of investor capital as a fundamental obligation, not an afterthought. This drives our conservative approach to leverage, our preference for assets with intrinsic land value and our multi-year management plans designed to protect and enhance the underlying asset base through all market conditions.
Where fund structures permit, FRANCE VALLEY aims to deliver regular income distributions sourced from agricultural rents, timber sales, SCPI dividends and other recurring revenue streams. Distribution policies are clearly stated in each fund's prospectus and reviewed annually by the management team.
FRANCE VALLEY commits to managing every hectare under our care with a multi-generational perspective. This means implementing certified forest management plans, protecting soil health on agricultural land and preserving the biodiversity that underpins the long-term productivity of our assets.
We set quantitative environmental targets for each fund — covering carbon sequestration volumes, forest certification rates, reduction in synthetic inputs on agricultural land and biodiversity indicators — and report against these targets annually alongside financial performance data.
Our funds are structured and managed to align with applicable European sustainable finance regulations, and we engage constructively with evolving reporting requirements. We view regulatory alignment not as a compliance burden but as a baseline that our own standards seek to exceed.
We measure our success in part by the length and depth of our investor relationships. Many of our clients have reinvested across multiple fund generations, which we regard as the most meaningful indicator of their confidence in our management and communication. Building these relationships requires consistency, honesty and genuine accessibility.
FRANCE VALLEY applies governance standards designed to meet the expectations of the most demanding institutional investors, including independent auditing, robust valuation methodologies, clear conflicts-of-interest policies and well-documented investment decision processes. These standards apply equally to every investor, regardless of the size of their commitment.
One of our strategic goals is to continue lowering the minimum investment thresholds for our pooled fund structures, making natural asset investment accessible to a wider range of private investors who could benefit from these strategies as part of a balanced long-term portfolio.
